After a succesfull comeback of Kim Clijsters, there’s another belgian tennis player that is working on a comeback. Yes people, I’m talking about Justine Henin. The newspaper “Vers L’avenir” is making it concrete. Her entourage is saying that it officially is for preparing the exhibition matches, but guys, I think we know better. 1,5 years ago Justine told the press that she is leaving tennis. But after someone asked: “Will you come back”, she answered like this: “Never say never”.

Elke Rodriguez, the wife of the ex-trainer of Justine Henin (Carlos Rodriguez) told the newspaper, that’s something is moving, around Justine Henin. She’s training a lot more (but only because she is working on her operated knee, yeah right…)

The newspaper also gives three reasons why Henin is considering a comeback: 1. she misses tennis, 2. her devorce costed her a lot!! So, she’s in a financial crisis and 3. tennis runs through her vains…

Let’s hope the newspaper Vers L’avenir is right and Justine is making a comeback. This would be great for the game and for John McEnroe, because he loves to see her play.

UPDATE: it’s been confirmed, Juju (Justine Henin) is making her comeback.

roger-federerRoger Federer has won Wimbledon 2009. He’s officialy the best tennisplayer in hystorie (based on Grand Slam titles). He won 15 titles in his career and that is one more than Pete Sampres. Don’t think he is stopping now! He will win a lot more Grand Slam titles. Roger won agains Andy Roddick 5-7, 7-6 (8-6), 7-6(7-5), 3-6, 16-14. Yeah, you read it well 16-14 in the last set. In the whole match he hit 50 aces… THAT’S A LOT!!! It was a great game, with a lot of nice points, and overall Federer was the best player on the court. Andy also played very good, but Roger was just a little bit better and it was a deserved win for Federer. He said that Andy played a great game and that he had to do a lot to make this great moment come true. He will become a father this year and has won 15 Grand Slam titles, what more do you want…

serena-williams

Serena has won the Wimbledon tournament of 2009. He won against her sister Venus Williams. Scores: 7-6 (7/3) in the first set. The second set was less thrilling, Serena won also won it: 6-2. A nice thing to know is that the sisters played each other 21 times. Serena won 11 times and Venus off course 10 times. It was the 4th time Serena won Wimbledon.

Serena had to save two break points in game eight of the opening set before going on to dominate the tiebreak.
A double fault from Venus in game six of the second set handed the initiative to her sister. Venus survived three championship points on her next service game before netting a backhand to hand Serena her 11th Grand Slam title.

There was nothing to about it, Venus said. She (Serena) had an anwser to everything today. Serena said she was supprised she had won the tournament. It was already 6 years ago that she won Wimbledon.

On sunday we also have the Men’s final. Roger Federer is playing against Andy Roddick. More news to come about that game.

Rafael NadalFour-time winner of Roland Garros Rafael Nadal has lost against Robin Soderling 6-2, 6-7 (2), 6-4, 7-6 (2) ending his record 31-match winning streak at Roland Garros. Nadal has dominated the French Open since his first match on the red clay at Roland Garros. In his 31 previous matches, he had lost only seven sets – the last one coming against Roger Federer in the 2007 final.

Soderling, seeded 23rd at this year’s tournament, ran Nadal ragged on center court with his hard serve and booming forehand.

The Swede crumbled at this point, conceding six consecutive points as Nadal took the tie-break 7-2 to level the match and having found some momentum, it looked like things were perfectly set for the defending champion to go on and win the match from there. But Soderling had other ideas and having held his serve through the third set, he broke Nadal’s in the seventh game before serving out to love to take it 6-4.

Nadal was clearly rattled but a fightback appeared to be on the cards after an early break in the fourth set gave the Spaniard a 2-0 advantage. But Soderling broke back immediately, setting up another tie-break.

When it came it was Soderling’s turn to dominate proceedings, the Swede overwhelming his opponent 7-2 to complete an incredible win. His reward is a place in the quarter-finals, where he will meet the winner of Fernando Verdasco’s match with Nikolay Davydenko.
