Ronald Janssen (38 year old male from Belgium) may be a serial killer. Luckily the man was already arrested. When he was arrested, he almost immediately committed that he was the murderer of Shana Appeltans (18) and Kevin Paul (22). After many investigations and a long questioning (on January 11, 2010), he also admitted that he was the murderer of Annick Van Uytsel, but this is possibly the beginning of a series of unsolved murders in Belgium.
The court takes serious note that Ronald Janssen may have created more victims and that he has been murdering for a while. At least two cases of the 90′s were reopened. These are the murders of two young girls at the coast of Belgium: the 16-year-old German Caroline Titze (in July 1996 found murdered in De Haan) and the 26-year-old Ingrid Caeckaert from Maldegem, who was killed in her apartment in Heist in March 1991.
Ronald Janssen has at least made the impression that he made other horrific acts. The stories of the 38-year-old teacher are very inconsistent, but interesting enough to be further investigated. The detectives assume that he’s not a new Marc Dutroux because there is no evidence that he sexually abused young girls.
Let us hope that, if he is a serial killer, he admits everything, because the families of the murdered need clarity. They want to move on with their lives.
