Standard miraculously remains active after the winter in Europe. Sinan Bolat heads the ball into the net against AZ in the 95th minute. Sclessin exploded: on the field the eleven Rouches went crazy, next to the field strangers hugged each other.
Standard were the better team in the first half, attempts by Nicaise and Jovanovic were caught by Romero and Moisander. A free kick from “Jova” stroked the crossbar. At the end of the first half a well tried bicycle kick by De Camargo struck the post. But it was AZ that were leading 0-1 by a goal of Jermain Lens (assist by Pocognoli) in the 41th minute.
The second half was not that good at all, very boring I would say until the 95th minute. Because of a faul on Marcos Camozzato Standard got a free kick. Nicaise placed the ball (very well I’d say) before the goal and then it was the moment of Sinan Bolat. He headed the ball beautifully into the net. Everybody went crazy! Standard are going to the Europa League, AZ have nothing! Maybe there new coach Dick Advocaat can turn thing around for them…
