Sir Bobby Robson died this morning (31/07/2009) after a long battle against cancer. He became 76 years old.
He was on the demonstration game between the former England national squad and the former German national squad at St. James’ Park (Newcastle United). It was a benifit game for the cancer fund of Sir Bobby. England won the game 3-2.

Sir Bobby Robson played for two teams in his career: Fulham (1950-1956, 1962-1967) en West Bromwich (1956-1962). After his career he became a succesfull coach. With the national squad of England he got into the semi finals in 1990 (World Cup). After the World Cup he became the coach of PSV until 1992. After that he went to FC Porto (1993-1996), FC Barcelona (1996-1997) and again PSV (1998-1999). He won a total of 7 major trophies. In 1999 he went to his favorite team Newcastle United until 2004.
In 2006 he heard that he has a brain tumor, and yeah, now everybody knows the end of that sad story. He was a very good soccerplayer, a very nice person and a hell of a coach. We wish his family our deepest condolence.
